The Saloon Car concept was hatched in 1998, by a group of enthusiast who that that relatively late model six cylinder Ford Falcons and Holden Commodores would make an inexpensive and popular race car series.

Saloon Cars are basically very simple. The vehicles are six cylinder production based Ford Falcons (EA/EB AU’s and Holden Commodores (VN/VP, VT, VX, VY, VZ), slightly modified for competition, safety and reliability.

The category is a full on traditional battle between Holden and Ford, that offers competitors high speed thrills, at a relatively low cost.

Saloon Cars have been part of the support program of many of the highest profile race meetings in the country, including the Clipsal 500, The Bathurst 12 HR, Indy 300, Ozemail Queensland 500, the Island 300, and were for many years a core category with the Shannons Nationals.
